Founder of The Band-Aide Program

Michaela Brugmann established The Band-Aide Program in 2016 to earn her Girl Scout Gold Award. She knew she wanted to center her project around music and helping the band program. Michaela sat down with her project mentor, Mrs Sandman, and they eventually came up with the idea of a student-to-student music mentorship program. The first year, the program had about 15-20 beginner students, and about 10 high school helpers. She ran the program consecutively for three years. By her final year, she had over 65 beginning students, and about 45 high school helpers. Michaela is currently studying Music Education at Kent State University, and is working towards her goal of becoming a band director. Music has been a large part of Michaela's life ever since she was a little girl. Her grandfather instilled a love for music in her at a young age. She hopes to someday expand the program to give every child the opportunity to explore the world of music.
